February
2006 Pruning off the vines… cheers!
Don't' think February is not a time for traveling! The 14 of February
in Bulgaria is the Holiday, dedicated to the patron of the wine,
Saint Triphone Zarezan. The old custom, music, dances, the carnival
holidays will warm the cold winter days. If you insist to celebrate
Saint Valentine's day, which is on the same day, let's do it together,
both saints we celebrate with good wine!
We have several itineraries for that day, as they are combined with
the Chukeri custom: parade of frightful masks, masquerade . This
custom is an ancient response of the tradition of chasing away the
evil and the evil saints.
Our specific wine tour will take part in this holiday in Eastern
Bulgaria. The other itineraries also include visits, where many
surprises are waiting for you!
Don't miss to get know this old Bulgarian holiday of Trifon Zarezan
- the pruning off the vines, the day of the wine-grower!

March
2006 Marthenitza making
In
some regions of Bulgaria the Kukeri holidays continue. Our tour
will show you the International festival of the Choukeri and the
masquerade games /in the end of Februaray and the beginning of March/
and the Chukeri's convocation. We combine this tour with the old
custom of making of martenitza: an amulet for heath, which we present
as a gift on the 1st of March to our friends and the people we love.
We carry this amulet until seeing the first stork, and then we put
it under a stone or hang it on a special tree. So together with
us you will make your first martenitza combining the red and white
threads... If you have time stay with us and wait for the first
storks!
